Q2: About Blogger
Basically Blogger is a diary or journal writing tool. In this course, it was used as a tool for self-reflection, topic discussion, pair negotiation and collaboartion on the final project, and whole class sharing.
- What are your comments and suggestions on the uses of Blogger in the course?

Most individuals don't bother with Blogger. It's a very casual tool and therefore very useful, but that casual element means that it's not treated seriously. When blog contents are being considered during grading, that might prompt blogging for the sake of having a new posting rather than a proper reflection process.
As it is, I don't think most of us reflect on our own cognition enough, let alone contents of a course.
It is a very good tool, but perhaps some other parameters should be enforced if this is to be considered part of the grading scheme.
One of the main advantages of blogging is definitely sharing. This facilitates more effective student-lecturer interaction as well as problem solving. I am not sure that the weekly reflections work though. Other than blogging for its own sake, students feel the compulsion to blog merely for grading purposes. Also, the culture to actively respond to others’ blogs is often absent. Posting on group discussions is also like sending snail mail for the recipient to read later. As pair negotiations are not spontaneous, I feel that it is more effective communicating face to face or going online. Ultimately, the biggest disadvantage lies in the fact that blog inputs form a component for grading; it undermines true reflection processes as the goal is to publish a new posting for the sake of conformity.
