Q1: About the design and delivery of the course

The basic design idea of the course is like this:
Before the class, you are supposed to study the lesson materials (or the knowledge part) by yourselves; during the class, you are guided to link the knowledge self-constructed to the skills in the Multimedia Builder; and after the class you need to reflect on both the knowledge and skills .

  • How do you like the design of the course?
  • Did the teacher's presentations after the recess help you better understand the content of the topics?
  • Please give some comments and suggestions for improving the design and delivery of the course.

I liked it the way it was initially structured. The addition of the powerpoint presentations at the beginning of each lesson after feedback was a little redundant, since we can read it beforehand. It doesn't require much to read the slides and understand what it's talking about.

So personally, I would've preferred jumping right into the hands-on practice. In fact, that would probably keep me awake during the first part of the lesson, rather than listening to a simplistic powerpoint. You've made it very easy to understand, so there's no point in going over the information in it again.

I would have also loved to work on an ongoing project throughout the course. As more skills are learnt in MMB, we can add those features (or choose not to) into the project. It's like an extended task rather than working on new individual .mdb files all the time.

I am very much a visual learner and I appreciate the powerpoint presentations to prepare myself beforehand. Dr Wang’s short presentation was helpful as it helps me understand the concepts better. However, I do feel that the pace of the lesson conducted during hands-on rather fast. It was a real challenge for a slow learner like me to keep up with all the steps and remember them in the end. As we need full concentration to follow every sequence demonstrated, taking notes is virtually impossible. I would really appreciate if Dr Wang could provide students with some notes/user guides to the key functions of the software. This would be good reference for all our projects. In addition, short exercises at the end of each session will be useful as it allows students to recap and apply what they have learnt so far. Last but not least, kudos to Dr Wang for his patience, understanding and support in the delivery of this module.
